The Challenge

Air Liquide moves dichlorosilane gas from 1-ton cylinders to smaller, portable containers for distribution. The major hurdle they faced came as the gas became too cold in winter and cold conditions, preventing the container from draining completely.

The Requirement

The dichlorosilane gas needed to maintain a regular temperature of 120°F to flow correctly in the winter. Any temperature control solution had to be rated for hazardous locations, given the nature of the chemicals involved. Air Liquide needed a reliable, safe, and efficient system that could operate continuously in demanding conditions.

The Solution

North Slope Chillers engineered a custom hazardous-location heating solution designed specifically for Air Liquide's dichlorosilane gas distribution process. The system maintained the required 120°F temperature consistently throughout winter conditions, ensuring complete cylinder drainage and uninterrupted flow.

The custom-built system met all hazardous location certifications and was designed for reliability in the demanding chemical distribution environment. North Slope Chillers' engineering team worked closely with Air Liquide to ensure every safety and performance requirement was met.

The Result

With the North Slope Chillers solution in place, Air Liquide nearly doubled their daily output. The hazardous location heaters maintained consistent temperatures, eliminating the cold-weather drainage problems and allowing continuous, efficient operation throughout the winter season.
